With its pluggable architecture, quality code, and decades of open development PostgreSQL has proven to be a great foundation for building a cloud-based managed service. In this talk, you will hear the lessons learned from building, running, and scaling Azure Database for PostgreSQL, which serves enterprise-customer needs. You will also hear about areas where more momentum in upstream PostgreSQL could help. This session hopes to spark conversations among fellow open-source contributors about enhancement areas and at the same time increase collaboration among cloud providers or enterprises self-hosting PostgreSQL—to learn from each other, reduce vendor lock in for users, and contribute more back to the community.
