In this talk, I will discuss all the parallel query features users can use with 9.6 and what is in pipeline for 10.0 and future versions.
Further, I will discuss the specifics of Parallel Sequential Scans and Parallel Joins with a focus on cases where they can help users and where they cannot. It will also describe the user tuneable knobs for parallel query and the work done in optimizer to choose parallel plans.
Finally, I will share some of TPC-H queries where the benefit of parallel query can be seen.
