Linux containers are a viable alternative for system services already, de facto standard of modern PaaS, like OpenShift, and they are getting on the workstation as well. Containers might be even alternative for traditional packaging formats (RPM, deb) to package various tools, daemons or system daemons to provide a service for the whole system (SysV scripts, systemd).
This talk introduces how to create a PostgreSQL container image that will be ready to use in all use cases mentioned above and what tricky points user may meet on the way. The talk is mostly inspired from the latest technology innovations happening in Fedora, CentOS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux distributions. The audience will also learn some tips about the infrastructure and how to put all that into continuous delivery workflow.
