Session will show how Skype built a scalable realtime data aggregations in PostgreSQL under heavy write load conditions. This approach is useful when executing millions of analytical/statistical queries per day is no longer an option due to need for almost immediate response.
Also the topic will introduce sort of "SQL streaming" tool which is used internally to achieve the results for more complex situations.
Examples of some scenarios where this kind of solution could be useful:
- anti-fraud and money laundry fighting systems
- sliding window aggregated statistics
- realtime data flow monitoring and early warning systems
