As of 9.5, PostgreSQL can be used nicely for Full Text Search. However, if you are looking for a "cheap hotel" the word "hotel" is surely more relevant than the word "cheap".
Many algorithms have been developed over the year to approach the problem if semantic search, which can be added to PostgreSQL if needed.
During this talk a couple of approaches and a demo will be presented.
