PostgreSQL offers a rich set of parameters to tune and configure resource consumption efficiently. A lot of stuff happening inside PostgreSQL can be optimized this way - however, sometimes it is necessary to integrate the database server with the underlaying operating system more tightly and to make sure that only a certain amount of memory, CPU or disk bandwidth is used. This talk will show how Linux cgroups can be used with PostgreSQL.
