Heroku runs the world's largest Postgres install, comprising many hundreds of thousands of databases. In fact, Heroku has made Postgres one of the core technologies that powers its business.
In doing so, we have brought a new class of users to the community, learned some interesting lessons about the challenges of running at a very large scale, and we have explored various ways of working with and contributing back to the community.
In this talk, I will share some successful strategies we have employed in deploying Postgres at scale, how we work with the community, as well as share the stories of some of the users we support.
