In pursuit of Miro's objectives for enhanced reliability and scalability, the Company made the strategic decision to transition from a self-managed PostgreSQL infrastructure to a more streamlined and efficient managed services model. This is the story of a month-long initiative where the DBRE Team developed the automation, observability, and test bed in close collaboration with the backend engineers. Our solution leveraged Logical Replication to migrate and consolidate 200+ shards into 50 managed service instances highlighting the challenges encountered and lessons learned.
