This talk is focused to understanding essential parts of the PostgreSQL planner, how queries are planned, what parameters affect this planning, what parameters can be tuned and when. We will be discussing most common gotchas seen in explain plans, how to take action and fix them by tuning parameters, hinting the planner and having the right statistics in place.
