This talk is primarily about t-digest and q-digest, two interesting probabilistic data structures allowing efficient (distributed, parallel) estimation of rank-based statistics (e.g. percentiles). I'll briefly explain the purpose, basic principles and how you can use them to process large amounts of data in PostgreSQL.
